Obituary

Richard William Wall, 81, died Sunday, June 4, 2017. Born in Factoryville, PA, to William Gordon Wall and Jean Dorothy Lewis Wall, he had been a Hampton resident since 1980. Raised on a farm, Mr. Wall joined the military and was the true definition of a military man representing Honor, Integrity, Respect. He served 28 years in the military, the first nine in the Army including the Vietnam War with the 1st Infantry Division and the next nineteen in the Air Force retiring in 1986. He stayed at Langley as a civil service contract specialist until retiring in 1999.

Mr. Wall met his wife Nela Liwanag DeLeon while stationed at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines. They were married in 1971 and were together 41 years until her passing in 2012.

An avid golfer, he learned to play in his twenties, golfed every weekend and twice a week once he retired. Mr. Wall was also an avid bowler as he and his wife bowled in a mixed league every Friday night for many years. When his sons were young, he coached baseball as a manager, fan, mentor and player. He walked his dog Bear every night giving him a chance to befriend all of his neighbors on the street.

Mr. Wall is survived his sons, William Jay Wall, Richard Lee Wall and William Todd Wall; grandchildren, Adina Elyse Wall and Shoshanna Kayla Wall; and sister, Linda Rosengrant Lohrey.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton.
