Richard L. Sicard, 70, of Hampton, VA died Monday, December 25, 2017 at his home. Born in Methuen, MA on January 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Arthur and Cecile (Perusse) Sicard.

He lived in Lawrence, MA and graduated from Lawrence High School. Richard entered the United States Marine Corp in 1965, completing Marine Corp Schooling and courses to become an Amphibian Tractor Operator.

While serving in Vietnam, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, and Combat Action Ribbon. Richard was honorably discharged in 1969 at the rank of Sargent. Prior to his death he retired from Veteran Affairs.

Richard's hobbies included tennis, fishing, motorcycle trips, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Todd C. Sicard and his wife Diana of Lawrence, MA; Jason A, Sicard of Hawaii; sister, Denise Bush and husband Greg of Hampton, NH; cousin, Betty Ann Faucher of NH; stepdaughters, Tracy Powell, Holly Topolnicki, Stephanie Rowe, and Heather Spencer; step grandchildren, Gabrielle Powell, Taylor Powell, Sharon Topolnicki, Kylie Spencer and Aidan Spencer; several nieces and nephews; and long-time care giver, Lynn Barrow. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Osburn Sicard and brother Donald Sicard

The family will receive friends Tuesday January 2 from 6-8 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 3 at the funeral home. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
