SFC Richard Dean Macomber, (US Army Ret.), 63, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015. Born in Lynwood, CA, he has been a resident of Hampton for the last 12 years. He retired from the Army in 1991 after 21 years, which included service during Vietnam. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Anita; parents Iva Mae Jacobs and Walter E. Macomber; and brother-in-law John Patterson. He is survived by his daughter, Tina L. Hayes and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Travis D. Hayes and his wife Ashley, Matthew D. Hayes, Mark Thomas Hayes II and Tiffani N. Hayes; four brothers and three sisters. A memorial service with military honors will be conducted 12:00 Noon Friday May 1, 2015, at the Hampton VA Medical Center Palliative Care Center, 100 Emancipation Dr., in Hampton.
