Richard M. Bennett, 63, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018.  Born in Pittsburgh PA, he has been a resident of Newport News for 37 years. He was a Senior Designer at Newport News Shipbuilding for 33 years.  He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.  He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.

Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Claudia D. Bennett; son, Richard Paul Bennett; sisters, Joan Bennett, Jean Shingleton, Janet Doerfler and Jacqueline Niedbala.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Monday at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton.  Visitation will also be from 10-10:45 am Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 100 Harpersville Rd. in Newport News.  Immediately following at 11:00 am, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. John David Ramsey.
