Richard Alwyn Crow, better known as “Rick,” unexpectedly passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 68.

Rick was born on January 10, 1958, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, to Elmer and Dorothy Crow. Growing up in Ravenswood, he was surrounded by family and learned the values of hard work, kindness, and compassion that would define his life. He graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1976 before moving to Hampton, Virginia, in the summer of 1978, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Shortly after arriving in Hampton, Rick began his long career at Howmet Castings in August 1978, where he faithfully worked for 40 years until his retirement in October 2018. Continuing his education, Rick earned an associate’s degree from Thomas Nelson Community College.

Shortly after moving to Hampton, Rick met the love of his life, Sharon, at church. Their relationship blossomed, and they were married on October 6, 1979, beginning a loving marriage that spanned more than 46 years. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with one daughter, Michelle Rae.

Rick’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving brother, and an adoring Papaw. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his granddaughters, Hailie Rae Kidd and Sophia Louise Reavis, who were truly the light of his life. He cherished every moment with them and took great pride in watching them grow. In his spare time, Rick enjoyed gardening, hunting with his West Virginia family, and cruising, which brought him great relaxation and joy.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Crow; his daughter, Michelle Reavis, and her husband, Chris; his cherished granddaughters, Hailie Rae Kidd and Sophia Louise Reavis; his brothers, Jimmy Crow, Elmer Crow (Marty), and Timmy Crow (Bonita); his sisters, Debbie Louden and Susan Somerville; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Crow; his brothers, Charlie Crow and Fred Crow; and his sisters, Mary Kamensky and Patty Gallagher.

Rick was a man of quiet strength, gentle character, and unwavering faith. He was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. By simply being there for family and friends, Rick lived a life of generosity and compassion. He never sought recognition for his kindness, yet his actions left a lasting impact on countless lives.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held with a viewing on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and a funeral service on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Both services will be held at Sharon Baptist Church, 2625 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to join in honoring and celebrating his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rick’s honor, reflecting his lifelong spirit of always helping others.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue for their assistance and compassionate care provided to Rick and to our family during this difficult time.

Rick leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and compassion. Although he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His example of selfless love, unwavering devotion to his family, and quiet strength will continue to inspire generations to come. While we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with those who went before him and has entered into eternal peace.
