Obituary

Raquel “Rocky” Brady, 38, passed away April 24, 2026. Born in Newport News, VA,  she was the 4th child of Roger and Jackie Brady.

Raquel is survived by her son, the love of her life, Jaxon; her parents Roger and Jackie; her brothers JR and wife Chris, Russell and wife Rachael; sister, Gina and husband Jason, four nieces, three nephews; multiple uncles, aunts and cousins.

Rocky was known for her spunk. Her nickname fit her well. She would be the first to stand up for what she believed, no matter the consequence. Her dad often joked that she should have been a lawyer because she would argue her case to the end.

Her heart was with helping others which led her to become an LPN. She had a special soft spot for working with elderly patients. She was always willing to lend a hand or give her last dollar to a stranger on the street. All of the neighborhood kids loved to come play at her house because she supplied an endless supply of snacks and fun.

Rocky had no fear and was always up for an outdoor adventure whether it be on the back of a motorcycle or ziplining. Some of her favorite things were riding bicycles, canoeing and visiting different playgrounds with her son.

To think of Rocky brings a lot of memories and emotions. She was bold, creative, artistic, funny, she gave good advice, she was always tan, she never left home without her hair and makeup done, she was an animal lover, but above all she was thoughtful and kind.

Rocky's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life as she had recently chosen to be an organ donor offering hope and life to six people.

Rocky struggled with addiction. Rocky's passing is a reminder of the impact of addiction. We share her story in the hope that it brings awareness to a nationwide epidemic that needs attention. Our family encourages anyone facing similar struggles to seek help.
