It is with deep sadness that we note the passing of Ramona Cunningham Jones.  She arrived on July 19, 1931, and left for heaven on a beautiful, clear, sunny afternoon, January 2, 2023.

She looked out for everyone, including friends, neighbors, and strangers.  Ramona taught children's Sunday School and Bible School, participated in WMU, visited nursing homes, supported missions; and helped children and those down on their luck.  She loved Fox Hill Road Baptist Church.

As her adopted son James Shipp said, she loved her family dearly, supported everyone and would sit and talk for hours.  Her nieces and nephews enjoyed countless summers at the beach, and fun trips camping across the country.  We saw Canada, Mexico, Grand Canyon, head of the Mississippi, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and every state in between.  She came from a family of nine children and according to her, raised siblings Audrey, Buck, Bobby, Phil, and Nancy, either on her hip or pulling a wagon.

She will be greatly missed by Debra (Walter), Dale (Jane), Kimberly, Jennifer, Valerie (Nick), Morgan, great-grandchildren Kayla, Cobi, Addie, and Autumn and great-great granddaughter Leilani Grace.  Ramona was our strength, hope, and guiding light.  Remember to always be kind to a stranger, pay it forward, love your family and friends, and you will leave a legacy as great as hers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Fox Hill Road Baptist Church, Hampton.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 – 2 PM.   Interment will be on Saturday, January 7 at 12 Noon at Fork Union Community Cemetery, Fork Union, Virginia.  A reception will follow at the Shipp Family Home nearby in Bremo Bluff.
