Rachel Harris Christman, 85, of Hampton, VA went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Rachel was born on March 1, 1939 in Covington, VA to the late Cecil and Louise Harris. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Eugene Christman; sister Ann Doss; brothers Robert and Ryland Harris; nephew Robert Harris Jr and niece Elizabeth Smith.

Rachel changed the lives of numerous children throughout her years as a foster parent and later as a nanny. Her love for her family was only surpassed by the love she had for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a blessing to all and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Kathy Verville (Joe), Kimberly DeMorier (Roger) and Philip Christman; grandchildren Timmy Verville, Kimmy Spencer (Will) and Ciara DeMorier; great grandchildren Olivia and Adelaide Spencer; brother Charles Harris (Carolyn); sisters in law Wilma Harris and Dianne Chappell and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2024 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 pm at Orcutt Baptist Church followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
