Phyllis Merrill Burrage, 85, died Thursday, March 5, 2015. Born in New Rochelle, NY on December 25, 1929, she was the daughter of Basil and Mary Merrill and spent most of her life in Hampton and Poquoson. She was a 1947 graduate of Newport News High School and the Specialty Training Program for Entering Professionals at Langley Research Center, Hampton where she served as a Contract Negotiator and retired as a Procurement Analyst in 1985 after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean F. Burrage and her only sibling, Sterling C. Merrill and his wife, Shirley of Roanoke. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, David D. Burrage and his wife, Vicky of Biloxi, MS, Beverly B. Spencer and her husband, David of Smithfield, and Dennis C. Burrage of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Patrick and Jeffrey Bunting, and Deanna, Carly and Dean Burrage; and a host of nieces and nephews. An accomplished artist and avid gardener, she also enjoyed many years of boating with her husband on their yacht "Phyllis B". She thanks the dedicated staff and her many friends at The Devonshire in Hampton for a great retirement. She had resided there since 2004. At her request, there will be no memorial service. Please celebrate her earthly life by living yours joyously with love and happiness until you all shall meet again when the final chapter is written and the book closed. God bless you.
