Philip Ethan Boyer, 46, died Sunday, September 15, 2013. Born in Danville, PA, he grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia had been a Hampton resident for 14 years. He graduated from UVA and the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School where he worked as a Designer and most recently as a QID Inspector.

He was an avid motorcyclist and loved flying planes.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Boyer; two sons, Ethan Boyer and Joshua Boyer; his parents, Marjorie Boyer of Rougemont, NC and Dr. Stephen Boyer and his wife, Patricia of Franktown, VA; and five siblings, Amy Boyer of California, Laura Altenhofen of Portland, OR, Peter Boyer of Columbia, MD, Matthew Boyer of Norfolk, and Tenneil Peckens of Virginia Beach.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church by Charles Beard. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
