Permillia Ann Hurd, 85, of Hampton, Virginia died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 25, 2025.  Born on October 28, 1939, she was a lifelong Peninsula resident.

She was a 1958 graduate of Hampton High School; retired from the City of Hampton Police Department as a dispatcher; and was a longtime member of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her parents Morris Henry Smith, Sr. and Nettie Kemp Smith; she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 67 years, Leon Hurd; her son Lee Hurd (Jo) of Gloucester, VA; and daughter, Marie Williams (Joe) of Middlesex County, VA; her grandchildren, Chris Hurd (Heather) and Stephanie Conley (Sophie); great-grandchildren, Shelby, Daniel, Hailey, Michael, and Alex; brothers, Dr. Morris H. Smith, Jr. and Charles Thomas Smith; as well as special people in her life, Brenda Small, Victoria and Sammy Larned.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers.
