Paul Seidnitzer, 91, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1932, and was a lifetime resident of Hampton VA. He was the oldest of 17 children born to Frank and Delia Seidnitzer.
Paul served in the United States Air Force, which started his career in law enforcement. He retired as a sergeant with the Hampton Police Department after 32 years of service. He then began his second career at Hampton Veterans Administration Police Department. Paul enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. His legacy lies in the love and memories that he has left behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeanne, his son, Timothy, and his grandson, Greg. In addition, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald, Bernie, Frank, Vincent, and Charles; and his sisters, Janet Scull, Joan Kelling, Rosemary Slayton, Theresa Bristow, and Patty Shinabery.
Paul is survived by his devoted, loving companion of 22 years, Helen Lufsey; his sons, Richard (former wife, Anita) and Michael (Deborah); his daughter-in-law, Heather; his brothers, Johnny, Joey, Jimmy, and Tommy; his sisters, Mary Hensley and Angela Slayton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kurt, Jeffrey, Katie Albano (Frank), and Kyle (fiancée, Carly); his great-grandchildren, Sophia, Amelia, Kurstyn, and Arianna; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome visitors at R Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27 from 5-7PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 2PM at St Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton VA. Burial will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
