Paul James Cole, 99, widower of Cora L. Cole, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  Born and raised in Baltimore and moved to Florida in 1989 where he resided with his wife.  Upon her passing, he moved to Newport News four years ago to be closer to his family.

Paul served his country during World War II as a staff sergeant.  He was assigned to the 661st Tank Destroyer Battalion of the Fighting 69th Infantry Division.  He retired from B & O/C & O Railroad in 1977 after 30 years.

Surviving are his children, Betsy Cole and Paul R. Cole, both of Newport News; grandchildren, Andrew, Peter, Christopher, Mark, Teresa, and Marie; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.  Arrangements are by Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, 757-825-8070.
