Patsy "Pat" Copeland Cole, 85, passed away after a brief illness at home where she had been cared for by her family. A resident of Hampton, she was proudly born in Phoebus, VA on July 11, 1938, to James Henry Copeland and Daisy Mae Harrell. She married her husband, Arthur L. Cole Sr., in 1958 and together they had a daughter, Audrey, and a son, Arthur Jr. Pat retired from Montgomery Wards after 23 years of service and then spent many years after, being an angel and caring for her family. No one cared more for their family than she did.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Cole, Sr.; her mother, Daisy Mae Harrell Dickerson; mother-in-law, Bertha Cole Riley; sister, Stella Earhart; and son-in-law, MacDonald Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Cole Smith; her son, Arthur L. Cole, Jr.; her grand-daughter, Crystal Kleiber and her husband Randy; great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Kleiber and Maegan Kleiber; and her extended family.

Patsy enjoyed her time around Phoebus, VA and her greatest pleasure was reliving her days at the Phoebus Softball Field when her granddaughters began playing and pitching these past few years. "Nanny" hadn't missed a local game until her illness this year.

Special thanks to her neighbors, family and friends and the Riverside Hospice Nurses and aides who have helped in her care these final weeks.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am, Friday, May 24, 2024, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-6 pm at the funeral home.
