Patricia Garrison Overton, 85, of Toano, died Monday, December 19, 2022. A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, 100 W Queens Way, Hampton, VA 23669.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Porter Garrison and John Marion Garrison and her brother John McHenry Garrison MD. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret O. Wagner-Diggs (Michael I.) of Toano, son, James H. Overton, Jr., of Newport News, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is remembered by family, friends and communities as an accomplished, remarkable, and creative leader who has left an indelible mark on businesses and people from all walks of life.

Patricia Ann Garrison was born on July 30, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois to parents Elizabeth Porter Garrison and John Marion Garrison. She had one older brother, John McHenry Garrison, MD. The family moved from Illinois to Charleston, South Carolina for a few years before landing in Hampton, Virginia. She graduated from Hampton High School and attended Mary Washington College.

As a teen working with her dad in hobby catering, she learned that making a life experience memorable meant adding in the right little touches. She made a practice of making each life experience memorable with all work she touched throughout her life.

She shared her talents and achieved remarkable outcomes as marketing director for McDonald Garden Center, as a mom, with family and friends, and at Blooms That Brighten, Inc. Since retiring, she volunteered for Blooms That Brighten because she loved their mission, culture, and personality.

Additionally, she was involved with the Retail Alliance as a Board Member, St. John's Episcopal Church Altar Guild, and the Peninsula Women's Network, and had her hand in many other community projects.
