Patricia (Pat) Ann Collins Cole went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2024. She was born on March 28, 1935 in Hampton, Virginia, graduated from Hampton High School in 1953, and married Clarence Melvin "Skippy" Cole that same year. The two spent most of their 71 years of marriage living in the heart of Fox Hill. Pat was a lifetime member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church where she participated in the church choir, Bible studies, and Sunday School. She was also an active member of the Fox Hill Wallace Memorial Prayer Shawl Group. Pat was an avid lover of books and worked for many years at the Willow Oaks Public Library. She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, scrapbooking, and collecting memorabilia. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Collins (of Staunton, Virginia) and Emma Wallace Collins (of Hampton, Virginia), and by her sister, Hattie Collins Mason. She is survived by her husband Clarence Melvin Cole, her three children, Richard (and spouse Terry), Stacey, Wesley (and spouse Cathy), four grandchildren (Rebecca, Joshua, Jacob, and Emma), one great-grandchild (Eleanor), and three grand-puppies (Callie, Oliver, and Leia). Pat was a loving wife, mother, and friend, always going the extra mile to bring joy and a smile to all.

A visitation will be held in the narthex at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 starting at 1:30pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. A short graveside ceremony at Clark Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pat's memory to Clark Cemetery Association (Mary Lou Roaseau, 373 Emily Dickenson South, Newport News, VA 23606) or Fox Hill Central UMC (501 Beach Road, Hampton, VA 23664). Arrangements are being handled by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
