Oscar Edward (Eddie) Jones, Jr. (83), son of the late Oscar E. Jones and Ella M. Jones, passed away on March 22, 2021. He was born on January 3, 1938 in Newport News, Virginia. Eddie graduated from Hampton High School and attended Ferrum Junior College and Roanoke College. He retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding Company in 1996 after 34 years of service; working in the finance department. Music was the love of his life as he played the drums since high school. He formed The Lyrics in the 1960's; a local band that performed at various events throughout southeast Virginia to Richmond. Eddie managed and performed with the Lyrics until the fall of 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Thelma J. Davis. Eddie is survived by his sisters, Doris J. Meland, Joyce J. Pereira, and Lola J. Stanco (Richard). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
A graveside service will be held on March 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA. Reverend Joe Hunt of Liberty Baptist Church will be conducting the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your charity of choice in honor of Eddie.
