Oscar Wade Burton, 73, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 peacefully at his home. Born in Maple Hill, North Carolina, he was a resident of Hampton since 1961. He was retired from Verizon Telephone Company, where he was a cable technician. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.

Wade was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Michelle Burton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Burton, along with his children, Lisa Mahan and husband Tom, Michael Burton and wife Georgie, and Sharon Trudeau. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany Mahan, Bethany Ludlam, Brooke Mahan, Michael Burton, Nicole Burton, Jordan Burton, Charity Trudeau, and sister, Marlene Silence.

The family will receive visitors from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Reverend David Highlander and Reverend Ernest Trueblood. The burial will take place at Parklawn Memorial Park on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
