Orin Leroy "Jack" Anderson, Maj (Ret), USA
Orin Leroy Anderson, known to everyone as Jack, of Seaford, Va, passed away January 23, 2026, at Riverside Select Care Hospital, Newport News, VA, at the age of 79. He was born in Wapahu, Oahu, Hawaii, on April 6, 1946, to Avery Orland and Christine Santiago Anderson. As the son of a military member, Jack spent his childhood in various locations across the United States before settling in Livingston, CA. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, El Paso, TX. He was drafted into the US Army in May 1967 and was commissioned a 2Lt in January 1968. His tours of duty included posts at Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Bliss, TX, Camp Smith, Hawaii, Fort Stewart, GA, and Fort Eustis, VA. He served heroically in Vietnam during which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with the V Device and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters as well as the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. He retired from Fort Eustis as a Major in 1987 after 20 years of service.
Jack then pursued his passion for cars and motorcycles as well as his skill in working with people. He held various management positions for the Hall Group, Hampton Chevrolet, and Auto Haus. Following his full retirement, he became an enthusiastic golfer, developing many steadfast friendships. He was also a prior member of the Oyster Point Rotary Club and the Hampton Roads Junior League.
Jack is survived by his wife, Judith (Judy) Robins Anderson, his daughters, Alice (Ali) A. Hoegel (Phil), Kathrine (Katey) A. Gray (Ronnie), and son, Aaron O. Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, with a graveside service and full military honors at St. John's Cemetery, Hampton, VA. A reception will follow in the church Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Tunnel-To-Towers or Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated.
