Nina E. Byrd, 100, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at her home, peacefully in her sleep. She was retired from Langley Housing Referral Office after serving in the United States Navy, as a WAVE during WWII. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art Pfund, Sr and Mary L Boals of Youngstown, Ohio, her brother, Art Pfund, Jr, also of Youngstown, Ohio and her caring husband, Maurice C "Mike" Byrd.
Her survivors include her son, Stephen "Steve"  Byrd(Candice); her well-loved grandsons, Andrew (Stephanie) of Newport News and Christopher(Marisha) of Tucson, Arizona, as well as her great- grandson, Theseus Vollette.
Her Celebration of Life (she asked for a party) will be held on January 21, 2024 at 2PM at Wythe Presbyterian Church,141 Robinson Rd, Hampton, followed immediately by a reception. Interment with military honors will follow on Monday in Parklawn Memorial Park.
