As Nelson would say, here's the Reader's Digest condensed version. Nelson was born on April 1, 1944. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1963 going on to work for Gately Communications for a time, then on to work for the telephone company now known as Verizon, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Frances Seely, three children; Lori Peters (Doug), Sheri Yarrington (Phillip), and Jason Seely (Claudia), seven grandchildren, Branden, Casey, Andrew, Rebecca, Coby, Sofia, and Treyson, and five great grandchildren; Lane, Evelynn, Caroline, Charlotte, and Lillie. He loved his savior Jesus Christ, the Redskins football team, and restoring old Chevys. Nelson loved his family unconditionally and would do anything to ensure their happiness. He passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2018 after 74 years on the earth. He now resides in heaven.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 19, 2018 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 765 J. Clyde Morris Blvd in Newport News, Virginia with a memorial service following at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Choir of First United Methodist Church of Fox Hill.
