Nannie Marie Walton Henderson, 75, died Saturday, August 2, 2014. Born in Newport News, she had lived in Hampton for the last 75 years where she worked at Mrs. Walton's Sandwiches, retiring in 2003. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1957 and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Henderson, a brother, Gilbert Walton, and a sister, Margaret McCord; survivors include her daughter, Nancy E. Lemis; her son, Richard M. Henderson (Sheri); her sisters, Arline Silverthorn (Bobby) and Mildred Bowers; her brothers, Robert Walton (Doris) and Reed Walton; and four grandchildren, Courtney Stearn (Michael), and Artie, Jon-Paul and Jeanette Henderson. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian McCormick, Dr. Marstellar, and Sentara Hospice, especially Lisa, Pam, Sherry, Joyce, Porchia, Dreama, Cookie, Kim and Bianca. They would also like to give a special thanks to Ms. Shirley and Ms. Mamie and to mom's sister, Arline for the love and care shown to her during her illness. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
