On June 4, 2025, our feisty but sweet mom passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished Nana who would do anything for those she loved — especially her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Steven Lee Martin; daughters, Crystal Updike and Ashley Sherwood; sons-in-law, Gary Updike and Brian Sherwood; grandchildren, Dylan Updike, Jacie Updike, Zach Updike, Claire Sherwood, and Lily Sherwood; and great-granddaughter, Austin Updike. Her love for them was infinite and she created memories that they will carry in their hearts forever. She is also survived by sisters, Michelle Shiflett and Margaret Greene; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Addie Mapp; sister, Addie Barnes; and brothers, Eddie, Ricky and Keith Mapp.

She found joy in the simple things, especially spending time with her family and watching the hummingbirds outside her window. Mom fought long and hard to stay with us, showing incredible strength and grace. In the end, her body was simply too tired.

We love you, Mom, more than words can ever express. We hope you're rejoicing in heaven with those who went before you. Because of your love, your guidance, and your strength, we know we will be okay. This is not goodbye but see you later! Love you always!

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
