Myrtle Sally Briggs, 85, widow of Allen Joseph Briggs, Sr., passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Born in Sunberry, NC, she has been a resident of Hampton for over 58 years where she was a seamstress by trade. She was a member of the Warwick Moose, CB Club of Hampton and a former Sunday School Teacher at Pine Chapel Baptist Church.

Myrtle was also preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Raby, Selma Ashley and Cola Gray; and brother, Darvin Spivey. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Cheryl L. and Bruce Cecil, Allen J. and Cindi Briggs, Jr., and Bobby J. and Belinda Briggs; Special Friend, Francis Charles; sisters, Norma Morris, Ila Blanchard and Jessie Eason; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. Immediately following at 10:30, a funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Veteran's Memorial Gardens.
