Mozelle Shaw Ward, 89, died Monday, January 5, 2015. Born in Troy, NC she had been a Hampton resident for 65 years until moving to Fairfax to be closer to family. Mozelle worked as a trolley operator and then bus driver before beginning work for Chase Bag Company where she served 40 years until retiring in 1990. She was an over 50 year member of Westhampton Baptist Church and past member of the Hampton Women's Club. Mozelle is survived by her daughters, Imogene W. Overbay, Deidre Sue Ward, and Teresa W. Hilton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton, with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday prior to the service from 11:00-1:00.
