Michael Edward Voglewede "Mike" of Hampton, 68, passed away on September 26, 2016. He was born to Thomas and Ella V. Voglewede on November 17, 1947. Mike graduated from St. Vincent Catholic School in 1966. He served as an Army Specialist in Ludwigsburg, Germany during the Vietnam War Era. He retired from Huntington Ingalls with over 40 years of service as a Supervisor, Dept. 038, Non Destructive Testing.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Jim Voglewede and Phillip Voglewede. He is survived by his step-daughter, Christina Boudreau, his sisters and spouses, Kay Voglewede, Sr. Peggy Voglewede, Mary and Rick Peterson, Chris and Tom Tingle and his brothers and spouses Joe and Linda Voglewede, Carl and Karen Voglewede, and sister-in-law's Rosemary Voglewede and Eva Voglewede and many nieces and nephews.

Mike will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. If he knew you were in need, he did not hesitate to give you a helping hand. He loved his family and his dog, Lexie. He was an avid surf casting fisherman on the Outer Banks and NASCAR racing enthusiast. Mike was loved and will be missed by all.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6th from 5 to 7 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
