Michael M. Tormey died on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the age of 57. He was born in Tubingen, Germany, the son of James H. and Ann D. Tormey of Hampton. As a member of an Army family, Mike attended schools in various locations in the United States and overseas. He graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College. His career was in law enforcement and he retired from the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail in 2013. Mike loved the water, particularly boating and fishing. He was an amazing, loving, husband, son and father. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Mary Duffie Tormey; his parents; his mother-in-law, Mary Duffie; his daughter, Kaitlin Michelle; his brother, James B. (Barney) Tormey and wife Laura; his niece, Tara; and nephews, Tyler and Tristan. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
