Maxine Wachter Wood, 80, passed away on Saturday August 5, 2017. Born in Berkley, West Virginia, she has been a resident of Hampton since 1981 where she was active in the Democratic politics in the area. Maxine graduated from University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1957 where she came to be an RN.

She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert B. Wood, and wife Brenda, and Thomas D. Wood, and wife Gaynette LaRue. She also leaves her beloved pet, Harriett.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 19 at 2 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the church.

The family wishes in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Armistead Animal Hospital, 531 N Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23669.
