IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maureen Frances
Ward
October 1, 1935 – May 3, 2018
Maureen "Mo"Ward
October 1,1935 to May 3, 2018
Maureen Frances Ward, 82, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. Born in Oldham, England, she has been a resident of Hampton since 1960.
Maureen is survived by her husband of 58 years, J. Roger Ward, Sr; brother, Joseph Collins sons, John R. Ward Jr.(Luydmila) and Michael J. Ward; grandchildren, Spencer E. Ward (Amanda), Collin J. Ward and Alexandra P. Ward; and great-grandson, Ethan A. Ward.
Maureen and Roger were together for 58 years, if laughter is the way to true love then no two people could be more in love than Mo and Roger, their life together was one long laugh. Being around them was always a wild and crazy time. Anyone that spend New Year's Eve with Mo and Roger over the years can attest to always having a lot of laughs and a great time.
Mo had a never-ending energy about her. She never slowed down for a minute, always on the move and always involved in so many activities. Her energy escalated on the tennis court. It would be hard to find somebody more competitive than Mo. She was always the last player on the court because losing was never an option she always fought to the very end. She was a member of the She Crabs Women's Tennis Team that won the championship title in the Peninsula Tennis Patron's Association league three consecutive years in the 1980's. Maureen was also a fixture at the Hampton Tennis Center (HTC) for years coordinating tournaments, leagues and lessons. Nobody did it better than Maureen. Her dedication to the HTC was astounding. Tennis was such a large part of Mo's life, she played tennis into her 70's.
Maureen was the ultimate dog lover. She loved and cared for her dogs with such a tireless devotion. She doted and spoiled her dear Bonnie everyday of her life.
Mo was an avid Dallas Cowboy's fan. Every Sunday and Thanksgiving at the Ward house revolved around the Cowboy's game. There was always plenty of fun, food, and football. Her husband, Roger, was the love of her life, but Cowboys Quarterback Roger Staubach was a close second.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Friday, May 11, 2018 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton. The family request in lieu of flowers to make a donation in Maureen's name to the Peninsula SCPA at www.penisulaspca.org
