Mattie Rene Greene, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Born in Whitakers, NC, she has been a Hampton resident for over 60 years. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, James Greene; daughter, Shirley Lewis; mother, Lillie Mae Coley; brothers, John and McKinley Coley. She is survived by her children, James Perry (Audrey), Johnny Greene (Gloria), Billy Greene, Marion Jordan, Sylvia Greene, Mary Ann Greene and Cheryl Brown (Raphael); brothers, Thomas and Eugene Coley; sister, Erma Maxwell; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Samuel Lewis; and a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Friends and family are invited to gather for viewing Monday from 12-7:00 PM. A home going service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. in Hampton, by Pastor Marvin E. Taft.
