Obituary

Matthew Boesen, age 54, of Hampton passed away suddenly on Oct. 22, 2021.  He was a father figure, brother, uncle, and dear friend.  He was an avid racing fan of both Nascar and Hampton's Langley Speedway. His heart was dedicated to the success of his friends on the track.  He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan as well as a Washington Capitals hockey fan.

Matthew was born to Roy and Brigitta Boesen on May 8, 1967 in the town of Aviano, Italy. Matthew graduated from Kecoughtan High School and New Horizons Automotive Vocational School.  After graduating, Matt went on to chase his passion for cars, racing, and mechanics.  He was employed at National Tire and Battery formerly known as Merchant's Tire Center for over 30 years.

He is survived by two brothers, Mark and Darren; five sisters, RoxAnn, Connie, Sharon, Benita and Debbie.  He is also survived by six nieces, six nephews, and their children; as well as many other cousins and relatives in Germany.

Matt loved his family and friends but never thought twice about speaking his own mind.  He was strong-willed, had a confident disposition, and a fierce conviction for all those he loved.

He was as comfortable in the kitchen cooking up a hot family meal and grilling out with friends as he was underneath an automobile fixing someone's automotive problems. When the rubber met the road, Matt was always available to lend a helping hand. Matt rarely missed a race locally or afar and could be seen in the stands or in the pit supporting his favorite drivers.

Matt, we know you are looking down on us as we cheer you on across the finish line. In our hearts, we know you finally won the race and earned your very own checkered flag.

We love you, miss you, and will see you again in VICTORY LANE!
