Mary Routten Wilson passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 79. Born in Newport News and raised in Hampton, she was the daughter of Marshall Lee Routten and Dorothea Routten Wisecarver.  She devoted many years working at Riverside Regional Medical Center where she retired as a Staff Development Administrative Assistant.

Mary was a very creative and talented artist.   She enjoyed painting, woodworking, sewing and quilting.  In her younger years, she loved to dance.  Her fondest days were spending time with her family and keeping in touch with childhood friends.  Known to many as "Sissie", Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. H. L.  Wilson, Jr. and two sisters, Anne Routten Rakes and Carol Routten Whiting; Mary leaves to cherish her sweet memory, daughters, Lynn Berry Blackmon (Dwayne), Susan Berry Heil (Bert), Valerie Leigh Berry, and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Arnder; grandchildren, Andrew Heil (Sadia), Jessica Blackmon, Heather Blackmon, Jonathan Arnder, Chase Arnder, Landon Arnder, and Lauren Martinez: and great-grandchildren, Zara, Abe, Emma, Grayson, Brayden, Addi, Connor, Ella, Selena, and Serenity; devoted brother-in-law, Liv Whiting, III; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, conducted by the Rev. Eric Vaudt.
