Mary Catherine VanOteghem, 70, a beloved mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away after a long illness. Born and raised in Silvis, Illinois, she was the daughter of Paul and Betty Smith. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mary went on to work as an administrative assistant for a government contractor.

Known for her generous heart, Mary was an amazing cook and had a spirit of hospitality in sharing her culinary creations with everyone. She loved shopping, crafting, and getting lost in a good book.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her two sons, Aaron VanOteghem and Derek VanOteghem (Kelly); her beloved grandchildren, Zuzu and Evie VanOteghem; her brother David Smith (Denise); her sisters Leanne Hutton (Albert) and Christine Cuchra (Robert); and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her spirit of generosity and hospitality with them.
