Mary Corlew Taylor, 102, died October 2nd 2015. A native of Dickson County Tennessee, she was a longtime resident of Hampton. Mary graduated from Middle Tennessee State University before going on to her teaching career. She taught Latin and Algebra at Hampton High School from 1962-1979 before retiring. Mary loved her church, and had been a member of First United Methodist Church for 63 years. She was a member of the Methodist Women Circle 4. Mary is survived by her son Cary V. Taylor and his wife Amy; grandsons, Matthew C. Taylor and Eric J. Taylor; and her sisters, Evelyn Dicus and Louise Thomas. The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8 2015 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at First United Methodist Church, 110 East Queen St., Hampton, VA 23669 Friday, October 9 2015 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, Special Mission Project. Arrangements are by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
