January 12, 1938 – August 18, 2021
Mary Lou Simmons, 83, widow of Luther E. Simmons, Jr., passed away on August 18, 2021. She was born in Miami, Florida and lived in Washington, D.C. and Maryland before moving to Hampton in 1960. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, a member of the Wythe Woman's Club, a volunteer Pink Lady at Sentara Hampton General Hospital for many years, and also volunteered for H.E.L.P., Inc.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Sherwood High School in Silver Spring, Maryland and Radford College in Radford, Virginia where she was a life member of Alpha Sigma Tau/Alpha Lambda Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Robinson; in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Luther E. Simmons, Sr.; sister-in-law, Sandi Mayhew; grandson, Brandon Simmons; and brothers, Harold H. Robinson and his wife, June, and John Robinson.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her two sons, Luther E. "Sam" Simmons, III and his wife, Tina and Harold A. "Pete" Simmons; one brother, Thomas Robinson; four sisters-in-law, Wendy Cooper and husband, Les, Beth Miller and husband, Jim, Karen Trimble and husband, Jack, and Linda Robinson; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of much beloved friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton with a visitation Thursday prior to the service from 10 – 11 AM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The service can be watched live online by CLICKING HERE .
