Mary Patricia Meiser died at her home in Hampton, VA on December 17, 2024 with family and friends by her side. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard L. Meiser, son-in-law Robert Jernigan, siblings Ben Keating, Kathryn Watson, Margaret Acri, Dan Keating, and Larry Keating. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Lucille McDonald; daughter Robin Greg (Mike) and son Richard L. Meiser Jr, (Colleen); grandchildren Sara Seay, Tara Tuggle, Seth Meiser (Courtney), Chadwick Jernigan, Samantha Carpenter (Bennett), and Lindsey Jernigan; great grandchildren Hayden Seay, Bella Jernigan, Tessa Tuggle, Jace Seay, Jace Rudiger, Oliver Carpenter, and Dallie Jernigan. Mary knew few boundaries to family and is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loved ones.
Mary was born in Harrisburg PA on April 20, 1939 and grew up in Lemoyne PA on Hummel Ave. When she and Dick were married on August 1, 1959, she became the ultimate Navy wife. Over the years, Mary had several jobs but her number one job was being a mother and navy wife. She served as an ombudsman and unofficial mother for many young sailors. Her home was always a place of welcome and respite for not only the sailors but also countless friends and family. Mary had the gift of hospitality and many experienced the warmth of her welcome and embrace. She loved a competitive game of dominos and was willing to do just about anything to win. The home she created for family and friends was always filled with love and grace. She loved her work at several different florists over the years and was very skilled at creating beautiful arrangements. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her visits to PA were also highlights for her. Whenever there it seemed to be her job to make everyone laugh through her story telling. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
