HAMPTON - Mary Marie Lamothe, 92, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at James River Convalescent Center in Newport News. She was born February 12, 1924 in Burlington, NC to Martha Rella and William Colvin Garner. Mary married Maurice Lamothe April 1, 1944 and they settled in Hampton in 1960. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Maurice J. "Buddy" Lamothe, having shared 52 years of marriage. She is survived by her nieces, Mrs. Jean Taylor and Mrs. Mary Jaffeux both of Hampton; great niece, Cindy White of Marion, AR; great nephews, Marty Taylor ( Mischell) of Seaford, and Danny Taylor (Melissa) of Newport News; fourteen great great-nieces and nephews. She was a communicant at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a member of the Women's Guild. She also helped count the church collection. Mary had an avid love for flowers. Fresh floral bouquets were always displayed in her home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, February 29, 2016 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive, Hampton.
