Mary Lou Burgess, 83, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. Born on April 22, 1935 in Harrington, Maine, she called Hampton home for the past 50 years.   Mary retired from retail sales at K-Mart in 1998 and was an avid bowler at Century Lanes. She loved feeding her birds, gardening, and vacationing in Maine.

She was preceded in death by her parents Claudius and Phoebe Robinson; her husband Charles Eugene Burgess; daughter Kathy Odom, and grandson, Matthew Charles Gowen.

Mary is survived by her daughters Rebecca Burgess and Elaine Gowen; sons, Robert Burgess and Larry Burgess; sister Patricia Carter; brothers Reginald Robinson and Paul Robinson; grandchildren Tammy, Kirstie, Nicole, Daniel and Jamie; and great-grandchildren Landon, Allie, Matthew, Wiley, and Rhett.

A memorial service will be Thursday, June 21 at 11 AM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669. www.rhaydensmith.com.
