Marvin Eugene Richards passed away on May 31, 2022, in Hampton Virginia.  He was born on September 20, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska and was a resident of Virginia since 1950 when he was stationed at Ft. Eustis.  While serving at Ft. Eustis, he met and married Catherine H. Duffer on October 12. 1951.  Marvin and Catherine celebrated 69 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 2, 2021. Marvin was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding from October 1952 until August 1993 when he retired.  He was a member of the Hampton Roads Seventh-day Adventist Church. Marvin was a kind and generous man with a ready smile and a gift of song. He was loved by all who knew him.

Marvin is survived by his two sons, David E. Richards (Anita) of Hampton, Virginia, and Dr. M Lester Richards (Dr. Kaarsten Lang Richards) of Mt Vernon, Washington; grandchildren, Eric (Melissa), Michael (Karen), Jefferson and Kallan; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Emily, Branson and Adylee.

Due to Catherine's passing during the pandemic a combination memorial service for Marvin and Catherine will be held on June 17, 2022 at 2:00pm at R Hayden Funeral Home in Hampton, VA.  Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
