Obituary

Martha Tysinger Watkins, 87, died Friday, January 10, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, she graduated from Hampton High School in 1943 and served on the reunion committee for many years. She was a former member of East Hampton United Methodist Church and a member of Central United Methodist Church. A former member of The Hampton Women's Club, she served for many years as their hospitality chairman. She was also a charter member of the Pine Cone Garden Club and the Bridge Club. The love and care she provided for her family was unending.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at The Chamberlin, Hampton Fire Division Station#2 (Phoebus), Caregivers Corner, LLC, Gentiva Hospice, and the Legacy Home for Hospice and Support for the love and care shown to them during this difficult time.

Preceded in death by her husband, John P. Watkins, Sr.; survivors include her children, John P. Watkins, Jr. and his wife, Kristin, Susan W. Johnson and her husband, Ned, and Patricia W. Waldon and her husband, Ray; her grandchildren, John Johnson and his wife, Kavitha, Allyson Rodriguez and her husband, Edgar, and Kevin Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Adan Rodriguez and Addison Johnson; her sister-in-law, Joyce Tysinger; her nephew, Wayne L. Tysinger and his wife, Linda; and her niece, Judy Stettler and her husband, Jeff.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church by Rev. H. Jack Lynch and Rev. John C. Price. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Patricia Waldon.
