Marissa Marie Gonzalez ,21, of Hampton passed unexpectedly on February 20, 2026 while 5 months pregnant with a baby boy she was excited to welcome into the world. She loved the beach and will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her fur baby Luna and highland cows. Marissa had just graduated with her associates degree from Virginia Peninsula Community College and was preparing to start on her bachelors at Old Dominion later this year. She was planning to become an Elementary teacher. Marissa was a friend to all and she was loved by all who knew her for her outgoing personality and her kind heartedness.
She is survived by her parents, Crystal and Phelan Gonzalez of Hampton; older brother, Phelan Gonzalez Jr. of Hampton; younger sister, Arianna Gonzalez of Hampton; her fiancé, Brandon Clark of Wakefield; maternal grandparents, Steven and Joyce Bailey of Hampton; paternal grandfather, Daniel Gonzalez of Hampton; paternal grandmother, Dana Killian of Idaho; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 4-6pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 2pm at the funeral home. Interment in Hampton Memorial Gardens will follow immediately after.
