Marie Slone Waggoner, 90, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.She was born on February 13, 1928 to the late Hattie Turner and William Henry Slone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger A Prillaman; two brothers, Alfred H. Slone and Warren H. Slone; three sisters, Ethel S. Renick, Grace S. Prillaman, and Ida S. Turner.
Marie retired from Piedmont Airlines with over 30 years of service. She loved to golf, travel, garden, dance, sew, and paint. She was an avid member of American Business Woman's Association acting as President for several years in Roanoke. After moving to Lynchburg and tired from the drive to monthly meetings she was instrumental in starting a chapter there. In 1976 she won the Woman of the Year award from that chapter.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Arlene P. Wallace and her husband, Wayne; two grandchildren, Chris Wallace and his wife, Kelly and Jeff Wallace and his wife, Eden; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Ora S. Maughan; and several beloved nieces and a nephew.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the family cemetery in Callaway, Virginia.
