Maria Eisenmann Young, 87, a resident of Hampton, Virginia entered her eternal resting place during her sleep on December 31, 2017.
Maria was born in Maisaich Germany on January 7, 1930 to Josef and Katharina Eisenmann. She was one of four children who spend her early years attending school and helping her family on the farm, which was known as "The Fohlenhof". She talked of many happy and sad times of what it is was like growing up during war-torn Germany with her siblings, Josef, Katharina and Matthew. She married Richard Alexander Young on May 24, 1955 in Fuerstenfeldbruck, Germany and spent twenty-eight years as an Air-Force wife traveling the continents of Europe, Asia and North America, finally settling in Hampton in 1975. Maria also spent time working at the Langley Air Force Base Officer's Club and at Child's Day Learning Center. Her hobbies included: carrying for her grandkids, sewing, gardening and her passion was crocheting. She was a strong woman who demonstrated perseverance by overcoming many obstacles over her life-time. She was strong in her faith and her life works represents what can be found written in the bible in Matthew 25: 23, "Well done, good and faithful servant".
She is survived by her three children, Helen Catherine (Young) Carroll and husband David of San Antonio, Texas: Ronald Allen Young and wife Martha of Roanoke, Virginia and Tina (Miller) Ridgeway and husband Larry of Suffolk, Virginia. She was known as "Oma" to her six surviving grandchildren – they are Jason Miller and wife Emily of Los Angeles California; Jennifer (Carroll) Welter and her husband Jason of Dayton Ohio; Katherine (Miller) Van Straaten and husband Nicklas stationed in Stuttgart Germany; Alyssa Carroll of San Antonio, Texas; Jami (Dean) Ford and her husband Michael of Woodbridge Virginia; and Ryan Young and wife Rebecca of Portsmouth Virginia. She is survived by five great-grandchildren: Ashton (Dean) Andrews and husband Shane of Dublin, Virginia; Delainey Welter and her sister Rowan of Dayton Ohio and lastly Ryan Young Jr. and his brother Cameron of Portsmouth Virginia.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Richard in 1997 and a grandchild April Simpkins in 2014. Her only living extended family member is James Satterfield (Brother-in-Law) of Miami, Florida and his associated family members.
A memorial mass celebrating Maria's life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Ave, Hampton, Virginia, on Friday, March 2 at 10 AM.
