Maria M. Aviles, 66, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Maria Aviles was born July 19, 1954 in Cuamo, Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of Maria Rivera and the late Sotero Rivera. Maria lived in the Bronx, New York for the early part of her life where she met and married her husband Julio, who she has been married to since 1971. Maria was a longtime resident of Hampton, Virginia where she worked as a server at IHOP for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mayda and Carmen. Survivors include her mother and her husband of 50 years, Julio Aviles of Virginia; four children, Jose Rivera, Luis Aviles, Kanini Aviles, and Allan Aviles; brothers, Hector, Edwin, and Sotero, all of Connecticut, along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 5-6PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 6PM.
