IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret H.
Powers
February 23, 1933 – April 18, 2024
Margaret Hoyhtya Powers, 91, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2024, after a long illness. She was born on February 23, 1933 to the late Abner and Helen Hoyhtya in New York Mills, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Peter Hoyhtya, her sisters, Lorraine, Irene and Carol and her daughter, Eva Winters.
Marge is survived by her sons, Paul Curtis (Curt) Winters (wife, Donna), Jeffrey Winters and Jack Winters, III; her grandchildren, Paul Winters, Jr. and Aimee Winters Simons; and her great-grandchild, Luke A. Winters.
Marge moved to the Peninsula in 1972 and was a resident of Hampton ever since. Her home was always open to anyone and everyone. She had a passion for caring for people and her feral cats. Her kindness to others touched countless lives, whether she was there to cut grass, take care of a loved one or just sit and listen.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit with her and help her during the time she was at home, especially to her granddaughter who was her nurse and companion during the last weeks of her life.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, with funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow, where she will be laid to rest in Parklawn Memorial Park. Following interment, a reception will be held in celebration of her life at Pour Girls in Hampton.
