Margaret Kim, 88, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Margaret was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima and the Korean Martyrs Catholic Church.

Born in Ansong, South Korea, Margaret trained as a nurse and traveled extensively before making Hampton, Virginia, her home in 1972. An independent and hardworking woman, she owned and operated several businesses over the years, including a wig shop, a clothing store, and her salon, Essence of Beauty.

Margaret was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima and the Korean Martyrs Catholic Church. Always one to stay busy and continue learning, she attended English classes even after she had mastered the language. She also generously gave her time volunteering at Sunlight Homecare.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kelly Kim; her daughter, Lisa Kim Shereck; and her siblings, Hongkrun Song, Myeongsook Song, and Jungsook Song.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Kim Heyns and her husband, Stephan; her son-in-law, Brett Shereck; five grandchildren, Quinn, Isabella, and Erik Heyns, and Rachel and Matthew Shereck; her sister, Changsook Song; and her brothers, Ilsung Song and Hyeongkeun Song.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima and Korean Martyrs Catholic Church, 2114 Bay Avenue, Hampton, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Margaret’s memory to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
