Margaret H. Haywood, 76, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 with her husband at her side. Margaret was the daughter of the late Raymond and Annie Mae Hill and was born on Oct. 14, 1945 in Wilson, North Carolina. She had been a Hampton resident since 1971. Margaret held a special place in her heart for the beautiful red cardinal, all types of music, her friends, and especially her family. With the simple reply of "Love you Sug" she expressed her endearment.  She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Tommie Haywood; children, Tammy Latta Routten and husband Junie, Jami Haywood and wife Ronda-Marie, Gigi Bridges and husband David, Dale Haywood, Sherry Baze, Connie Bersch and husband Dana, Tommie Haywood Jr and wife Sandra; a brother, Milton Hill; and grandchildren, Kailey, Tyler, Peyton-Reney, Shealon, Lee, Mandy, Linsey, Amy, Jimbo, Mindy, Andy, Katie, Jonny, Wiggis, Hannah, Dana, and Krystle; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Melissa Ann Bauer.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30-7:30 at the funeral home.
