Margaret Eugenia Hiser Hughes, "Peggy" as many affectingly called her, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the age of 82. "Peggy" was born March 30, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland to Howard Eugene Hiser and Margaret Rose Plitnik Hiser Tall, both deceased, before moving to the Newport News area as a teenager, graduating from Warwick High School in 1952.
Peggy dedicated her life to Jehovah as a Jehovah's Witness, baptized in 1971 and attended the Kingdom Hall located at 804 - 41st Street, Newport News, Virginia.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ian R. Hughes and her siblings Kathleen Hiser Olson, Richard A. Hiser and Eugene "Gene" Hiser.
Peggy is survived by one brother, Michael Tall of Newport News, and by her children, Andrea and her husband Linwood Russell of Whaleyville (Suffolk), Andrew and his wife Susan Hughes of Newport News, and Anjanette Jackson of Newport News, and step-daughter, Cheryl and her husband Art Fightmaster of Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Heather Privette, Christopher Hughes, Matthew Hughes and Fredrick Jackson of Newport News, Erin Lewis of North Carolina, James Ross of Whaleyville, Cara Fightmaster of Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Terrill, Tristen and Layla Privette, Gage Hughes, and Aiden Hughes of Newport News, Kayla Walker of Poquoson, Joshua Perry of Ohio and Brandon Ross and Jasmine Lewis of North Carolina, and Jacob Mills of Chesapeake, as well as nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 804 - 41st Street, Newport News, Virginia.
The family shall receive friends after the memorial service at Peggy's residence.
