Obituary

Malcolm Sadler Brady, age 74, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 25, 1951, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise Brady, and his brother, Thomas Brady Jr.

Malcolm is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Brady; his children, Edwin Murphy III (Kim), Kelly Smith (Steve), Matthew Brady, Sarah Harrington, and Jennifer Brady; his cherished grandchildren, Blake Harrington, Gavin Smith, Mikayla Dulgarian, Alexandra Smith; and his two Brittanys, Logan and Lucky.

Malcolm attended Hampton High School and Old Dominion University. He was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church Hampton and Hampton Yacht Club.

A proud veteran, Malcolm served his country in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War. He had a deep love for the Chesapeake Bay and dedicated much of his career to the seafood industry, working with both private companies and the U.S. government. His passion for the water was evident in his love of boating, both under power and sail—a passion he joyfully shared with his wife, Kathy, and passed on to his grandchildren.

Malcolm was an active member of the Hampton Yacht Club. His contributions included working with the Junior Sailing Program and as a Club Race Official. He had a special soft spot for Opti sailors.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Malcolm’s memory to the Hampton Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Program, honoring his lifelong love of sailing.

A celebration of Malcolm’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church Hampton on July 10th, 2026, at 4:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Hampton Yacht Club. The family welcomes all who knew him to remember and honor his legacy.
