Madeline M. Sanzo, 92, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016. A native and lifelong Phoebus resident, she was the oldest member of Phoebus United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the Phoebus Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies' Auxiliary; a member of the Loyal Order of Pocahontas, and she volunteered with the United Way for many years. She was the number one fan of soap operas, many times having three televisions on at once and keeping up with each of the stories. She was always willing to help others and never had a bad word about anybody. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Sanzo, Sr., her son, Charles "Babe" Sanzo, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Nick and Linda Sanzo, Joe and Pam Sanzo, Steve and Anne Sanzo, James and Whitney Sanzo, Anthony and Verna Sanzo, Betty Barefoot, Corrine and Ronnie Young, Rose and Bryan Paul, and Evelyn and James Billings; a sister, Evelyn Dawson; twenty two grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Sherry Howe for the loving care she showed their mother during her illness. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Phoebus United Methodist Church followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM.
